EAST WENATCHEE — The spring playoff picture is starting to come into focus across North Central Washington.
The Eastmont boys soccer team will host Sunnyside at 4 p.m. today in a Class 3A sub-regional contest in a matchup of the fourth- and fifth-seeded teams from the Big Nine.
The Wildcats, who finished the season tied for third place with Kennewick at 8-5, fell to the fourth spot because the Lions swept the regular-season series.
Eastmont’s baseball team, which fell to a fifth seed after being swept by Kamiakin on Tuesday, will travel to Hanford for a loser-out contest on Saturday.
The Bi-District soccer bracket — involving teams from the Caribou Trail League, Central Washington 2B League and the Northeast A League — still has a couple of spots to be decided.
Lakeside beat Colville 2-0 on Wednesday to earn the No. 1 seed from the NEA, and will host Cascade in Saturday’s first round.
Colville, the No. 2 seed from the NEA, will host CWB champ Brewster on Saturday. Chelan, the No. 1 seed from the CTL, will host a first-round game Saturday as well, but the Goats won’t find out their opponent until tonight.
If Manson beats Bridgeport at home today, or if Warden somehow loses to Liberty Bell, the Trojans will play at Okanogan on Saturday and Warden will be at Chelan. But if Warden wins and Bridgeport pulls off the upset, the Trojans will travel to Chelan and Warden will be at Okanogan.
The other 1A and 2B tournaments are still at least a few days away from getting under way. The 1A baseball tournament starts next Tuesday in Moses Lake, and 2B baseball starts May 14 at Eastmont. The 1A and 2B softball tournaments both start May 21, the 2Bs at Eastmont and the 1As at Cascade.
