Phyllis Jean Scott
Wenatchee, WA
Phyllis Jean Scott, 88, of Wenatchee, WA, was born on February 14, 1923, in Ellensburg, WA to Charles James and Alice (Phare) Hunt. She married Warren R. Scott on March 21, 1947, at her parent's home. Her first teaching job was in Battleground, WA with a three-year war certificate. Then, she went back to school at Central Washington College in Ellensburg, WA, met Warren, and got her teaching degree. She taught elementary grades in Thorpe, Richland and Moses Lake, WA. Her best ten years before retirement were spent teaching elementary special education in Wenatchee, WA. She loved her family and extended family, gardening (especially flowers), Lake Wenatchee, where she spent many summers at the cabin on the lake that she and Warren built, and was happiest when she had done or said or sent (especially a homemade card) something that made someone else smile and feel valued and loved.
She is survived by son, J. Richard Scott of Pullman, WA; daughter, Marilyn Scott of Yakima, WA; daughter, Mardi Scott of Wenatchee, WA; daughter, Mina Talbot of Quincy, WA; daughter, Nyla DiGiorgio of Philadelphia, PA; sister, Lucille Johnson of Ellensburg, WA; brother, Don Hunt of Birmingham, AL; sister, Mary Hunt of Tacoma, WA; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren R. Scott; brother, Gerald Hunt of Ellensburg, WA; brother, Melvin Hunt of Upton, WY; and sister, Patricia Hunt of Ellensburg, WA.
The family plans on a Memorial Celebration in July. Arrangements have been entrusted to Legacy Memorial Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.legacymemorial.info.
