WENATCHEE — The Wellness Place couldn’t book just any band. The local nonprofit needed a band with muscle — and clout — to attract the masses and help support more than 1,500 people fighting cancer in Wenatchee. They wanted Hell’s Belles, an all-female AC/DC tribute band, and here’s why:In the first 10 minutes of their Seattle show last weekend, Adrian “Ang” Conner climbed onto a speaker and towered over the sold-out crowd, wide-eyed and ferocious like a woman possessed. Her long dreads spilled over her white-collared schoolgirl uniform. As the crowd screamed affirmation, she leapt back to center stage and launched into a guitar solo for “Highway to Hell” without missing a beat. Amber Saxon, the band’s new lead singer, set off waves of pumping fists and devil horns with her throaty vocals: “No stop signs, speed limit. Nobody’s gonna slow me down.”
