EAST WENATCHEE — All the success Todd Walters enjoyed throughout the Late Models season came to a head Saturday night at the Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval.
Walters finished third in the Late Models championship main race, allowing him to claim the season title with 793 points.
Terry Halverson, who finished fourth in Saturday’s main, took second in the points standings with 760.
Chad Holaday, no stranger to Super Oval championships himself, won the class’ final race of the year and was fourth in the season standings.
Also wrapping up their seasons on Saturday night were the Youth Hornets, Pure Stocks and Street Stocks.
Though Cody Vickey dominated the Youth Hornets for most of the year, Shasten Gurnard took the last checkered flag of the year, aided by a fast lap of 16.73 seconds.
Vickrey still claimed the division championship with 2,194 points. Gurnard was second at 2,064.
Vickrey and Gurnard also competed in the Pure Stocks this weekend, but Cameron Bruggman capped off his season championship by winning the division’s last race. It’s the first title in the class for Bruggman, who finished with 2,218 points, 188 points ahead of second-place finisher Ardala Donithan.
In the Pure Stocks main, Kim Wennerberg held off Andy Stibal for the checkered flag.
The Super Oval wraps up the season this Saturday with the championship races for the NW Modifieds, Thunder Cars, Bump 2 Pass, and the Outlaw Compact Invitational.
