EAST WENATCHEE — Kevin Dietrich took home the NW Modifieds points championship by a single point over Frankie Voltz, Jr. after the final evening of racing at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval on Saturday night.
Voltz finished third in the class’ final race and Dietrich placed sixth, but it was enough for Dietrich to hang on to the overall crown.
Chris Ochs posted the NW Modifieds’ top lap on Saturday in 13.038, but the No. 54 car had to settle for seventh in the main event.
Russell Kain captured his second consecutive points championship in the Thunder Cars division with a third-place finish in Saturday’s main event.
Josh Childress took the checkered flag and placed fourth for the season. He also ran the fastest lap among Thunder Cars on Saturday in 15.713.
It was a clean sweep for repeat champion Randy Adams in the Bump-2-Pass division.
Adams won the points title as well as the summer’s final main event crown, putting up a 16.782 as his fastest lap.
In the Outlaw Compacts class, Justin Childress outdueled Josh Childress to the finish line Saturday, and took home the season championship as well.
Justin Childress’ 14.857 lap was also tops among Outlaw Compacts drivers.
Even though competition is finished at the East Wenatchee quarter-mile until 2012, the Super Oval still urges race fans to contribute to medical expenses for driver Chris Hastings.
Hastings is recuperating from severe burns suffered during a July 9 race at the track, and donations to help with his recovery are being accepted at Numerica Credit Union branches in both Wenatchee and East Wenatchee.
