Firefighters save Pateros, Winthrop homes
PATEROS — Firefighters in Pateros and Methow were called to two structure fires over the weekend.
On Saturday at 1:30 p.m., Winthrop firefighters responded to a house fire on East Chewuch Road, where black smoke was billowing out of its doors and windows, said a news release from Okanogan County Fire District 6. The fire was confined to a bedroom and bathroom, and the cause is under investigation.
On Sunday at about 5:15 p.m., Pateros firefighters, with help from Methow and Brewster fire departments, responded to a blaze in an outbuilding at 268 Mansfield St., said Chief Jerry Moore.
He said the house was threatened, but firefighters were able to save it, containing damage to the outbuilding, fence and shrubs.
No one was in the house when firefighters arrived, he said. The cause is undetermined.
