New Entiat superintendent will begin work in June
Wednesday, December 5, 2012
ENTIAT — Palisades School District Superintendent Ismael Vivanco, 44, will begin a second part-time superintendent position this year at Entiat School District.
Entiat announced Nov. 29 that Vivanco will take over for Superintendent Mike Wyant when he retires in June.
Vivanco is an employee of the North Central Education Services District and will be a contract employee to both Entiat and Palisades through the ESD. He has worked for the ESD for 20 years and is currently director for migrant education and academic achievement.
Before that, he served for nearly 10 years as director of migrant education services and migrant curriculum generalist. ESD Superintendent Rich McBride said Vivanco’s current migrant education position will likely be filled in June since he will be busy with two superintendent jobs.
Vivanco earned his master’s degree from Heritage University and received his doctorate from Washington State University in education administration last year.
He will start in Entiat on July 1, working intermittently with Wyant over the next seven months to become acquainted with operations and staff. He said he’s excited to be a superintendent full time, despite the challenge of working in two districts.
“We’ll do what we can with the time they give me and I’m looking forward to that,” he said.
