Wilma Maitoza
December 28, 1924 ~ December 2, 2012
Wilma Maitoza passed away on December 2, 2012, at the age of 87, surrounded by her family and the caring staff at Colonial Vista Assisted Living Facility. She was born on December 28, 1924, in Ava, MO to Otha and Mack Hall. She shared her childhood home with her two brothers, Owen and Virgil, and her two sisters, Betty and Dean. Wilma moved to the Entiat Valley in the mid '40's, where she married her first husband, Richard "Dick" Whitehall in 1947. They lived in Entiat for a number of years and had three children, Wayne, Owen and Paula. Over the last 40 years, she had lived in Reno, NV with her husband, Melvin Maitoza. She moved back to the Wenatchee Valley in 2009, and we have enjoyed spending many family gatherings together, listening to the stories of her life.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Owen and Virgil; and her husband, Melvin Maitoza of Reno, NV. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Wayne and Kathy Whitehall of Entiat, WA, Owen and Des Whitehall of West Linn, OR and Paula and Dick Lyons of Wenatchee, WA; and her three step-children, Vicki, Kenny and Marsha, all of Reno, NV. She is also survived by her two sisters, Betty and John Stegeman of Port Angeles, WA and Dean and Dave Jackson of Salem, OR; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to Dr. Tracy Carter, Hospice, and the loving staff at Colonial Vista. You all showed amazing patience and care with Wilma and it was appreciated more than you'll ever know.
Wilma lived a long life and will carry those memories and stories with her forever...
