Nice going, liberals

For all you voters out there who live in fantasy land, congratulations! You people succeeded in putting Obama in office so he can ruin the rest of the country. Let me list some things that are already changing.

One, he took responsibility for the murder of four people in the Libyan American Embassy.

Second, he let Gen. Petraeus announce his extramarital affair to cover the issue of the massacre. Which is more important, head of the CIA having his oil changed or four Americans? Bill Clinton had more affairs than Petraeus and it didn’t cover a big story up.

Third, he is shutting coal production mills and mines and wants to quit oil exploration in Colorado, trying to keep us dependent on foreign oil.

Fourth, he may succeed in killing off the middle class, making the rich richer by deferring taxes to the lower class.

Fifth, you think health care is expensive now? Wait a while till his “Obamacare” kicks in. He will bankrupt the medical system and everyone who pays premiums.

Thanks to all you liberals. You now have most Democrats in all the right places, just ready to cut jobs and raise taxes.

Those who voted Obama and his sidekick, “Who am I?” Biden, are going to recall this administration in a year or two because socialism and communism didn’t work back then and it won’t work today.

Have a great year when this government state and national tell you all is well. Disneyland until it all hits the fan.

Lincoln didn’t do it this way

Mr. Warner’s editorial on the “Lincoln” movie (Nov. 29) opines that raising taxes on the wealthy by 4 percent is not momentous, like ending slavery, but Congress should compromise like the movie. He admits revenue from this tax increase is one spit in an ocean of debt. Well you can’t compromise on suicide. You are dead or alive.

Spending a nation into ruin is momentous and threatens the nation and every citizen. Each dollar we print to meet expenditures makes the dollars in every citizen’s pocket purchase less (a hidden tax harshest on the poorest). Each dollar borrowed to meet expenditures requires endless future dollars in interest because there is no debt retirement plan — none. Few in government talk about the debt, it’s too big. They prefer to talk about this year’s deficit.

Do you remember what the Bush tax cuts were? There was a minor surplus of revenue anticipated. Rather than pay off debt (which gets few votes next election) tax rates were lowered for all income levels. Now there is a serious revenue shortfall. but only the rich should pay. That got enough votes to get the current fiddling Nero re-elected.

Beware, people also vote with their behavior. We see that in the way some people arrange their lives to benefit from government support (that increases spending). Among the wealthy there are no taxes on money you already possess, only on earnings. Created wealth typically benefits the individual modestly while they reinvest income growing their business. Upon retirement they reap the benefits and end their large annual tax obligation on earnings. So take only from the rich and they’ll stop earning earlier and begin pleasure, but it’s disaster for the rest of the nation. There’ll be nobody rich and earning available to tax and few jobs. It is happening now.

Not what America is

I am neither a historian nor an author, but I was taught American history. We learned that Christian people in British colonies were treated badly and they sacrificed their lives to create America. They were typical men with wealth, comforts of living, and life itself, and yet they were willing to risk their lives and die for a land of liberty and freedom.

Every citizen was expected to follow the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and abide with our culture. Except for that, they had the freedom to live the way they chose. Others strived to come to America, and those that were beneficial to America were welcome, learned our language and became American.

Today America is only a spot on a map. Throughout the years, people like George Soros, who bankrupted his native land of Greece while building a socialist nation, inevitably will, with Obama, do the same here.

Obama emulates George Soros by undermining our basic Constitution and abolishing things that America stood for.

In reality, converting America to socialism is little more that a gradual transfer of our own personal control and responsibilities, while the government is taking over.

A holiday gift

Thank you to the Wenatchee Seventh-day Adventist Church! What a wonderful way to start out the Christmas season — the “Journey to Bethlehem.” Three generations of our family attended a recent production. The shopkeepers and their wares were so realistic and detail-oriented. Our favorites were the innkeepers and the three kings — they were so genuine and made it seem like we were really in Bethlehem. The Roman guards’ performance was also outstanding. Tremendous crowds turned out for the production and because of the great organization, everything flowed smoothly. Thank you for your inspirational Christmas gift.

How pathetic, the hysterical right wing extremeist's accusing the President of the U.S. of being a communist, socialist or both after being easily re-elcted because the majority believe he is doing a good job in the face of the worst economic disaster since the depression. Caused by massive spending and borrowing to wage war on two fronts and have the audacity to cut taxes to please the whining right who don't want to pay any new taxes. The cost of health care premiums have steadily increased in double digit increments yearly for more than 30 years now so it is revisionist nonsense to claim that mandatory health insurance is the cause of rising health care premiums. How can getting 30 million plus new customers possibly be bad for your business?

"How can getting 30 million plus new customers possibly be bad for your business?"

Let the government run it.

EDDIEWAYNE     5 months, 2 weeks ago

Lets see now, which private health insurance company is being seized and taken over by the U.S. federal government? DUH, NONE.

0

kyook     5 months, 2 weeks ago

Nobody said they were...DUH!

Just saying that the government does not have a real good track record of running anything very effeciently, I don't doubt that Obamacare will be any different.

Hmm...kyook..."the gov't does not have a real good track record of running anything very efficiently". Try fighting/funding your own wars, or, your own forest fires. Or, building your own Grand Coulee Dam, or, your own highways, or, your own schools. I could go on, but, you probably get the drift. Now, tell me, kyook, how you built that (I know, same way we all did, gov't help. Gov't=the people of the US). Do you have medicare? VA benefits? Or, are you one of those "great Americans" that Hannity talks about who are completely & totally a self-built individual. &, just in case you're not old enough to know, ask your mom/dad/uncle/aunt/friend if social security isn't run "very efficiently".

Ahhh...you've given some great examples of things that the government runs but conveniently (purposefully?)forgot to mention the effeciently aspect. Does the government run these things under budget? On time? Victoriously? I'll bet that you'd be the first criticize the administration for being in the wrong war at the wrong place with no clear cut plan/exit strategy. Bush lied, people died? Sounds like a clear cut example of faith in the effeciency of the government mantra from the left to me. I'll bet that you'd be the first to criticize how Bush/FEMA handled Hurricane Katrina and the first to praise how Obama/FEMA is handling Hurricane Sandy.

Come on, bushman....think about it.

O.K., kyook, I thought about it. Upon further review your points are well-taken, your reply well-played.

I wonder how long it has been since most of us have read an American history textbook. Because if we had done so recently, we would remember that American colonists had no constitution or declaration of independence and were British citizens until 1776 (for 156 years). We'd learn that not all colonists were Christians and that those who were Christians were busy discriminating against each other, busy throwing non conformists out of a colony, and busy holding witch trials. Oh and just to stir up the war on Christmas people, all those God fearing puritans in New England believed it was sacrilegious to celebrate Christmas and insisted that all must work on Christmas Day. I just love history.

Would you please provide sources for the information on early American Christians? Thank you.

Obamacare has already saved millions of Americans money on their health insurance: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/05/obamacare-health-insurance-rules_n_2247380.html has details on the more than $1.5 Billion consumers have saved this year. As a volunteer health insurance counselor I have seen many seniors and people on Medicare because of disability enjoy savings of hundreds of dollars ($850 to $1800 are typical) during 2012, and even more next year. How can that be a bad thing? Don't let ideology blind you to the real benefits ordinary folks are enjoying as a result of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

How about if we rely on a source of information that's a little less biased than the Huffington Post?

0

bushman66     5 months, 1 week ago

O.K., kyook, let's do that. You name one of your "trusted sources" on this.

0

kyook     5 months, 1 week ago

I don't know that there are any. I could easily quote from another media source but you'd claim that they were equally as biased, just from another angle, and you'd be right. My point is that unbiased journalism is a lost art so I don't think any of them can truly be trusted. Therefore, the press is probably the last place I'd look for unbiased information.

Where to go then for unbiased information? First inclination would be to say the GAO but then we know how poorly the government does everything they do and they are not immune to partisan bias either.

I guess that's why it's such an exercise in futility to banter numbers about as if they were gospel.

Thanks for allowing me to point that out.

"Where to go then for unbiased information?"

For data on insurance, look at what insurers are self-reporting. The HuffPost article you dismissed without bothering to look at was a report of a scientific study which looked at the following data: "Data for this study come from the Supplemental Health Care Exhibit in the annual financial reports that nearly all health insurers file each year with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Insurers file this form for each subsidiary in each state in which they sell comprehensive health insurance. In 2010 and 2011, more than 2,000 health or life insurers filed these forms. To observe how plans responded to the new MLR rule, we included only those that reported data in both years. The final two-year sample consisted of 1,219 insurers in the individual market, 804 smallgroup insurers, and 750 large-group insurers" http://www.commonwealthfund.org/~/media/Files/Publications/Issue%20Brief/2012/Dec/1634_McCue_insurers_responses_MLR_regulation_ib.pdf

Mr. Miller, how about providing a source for your "facts" about George Soros? If you know how to find Wikipedia on your computer you might find that Soros was not and never was a native of Greece. He was born in Hungary and in fact during the 80's when Hungary was getting OUT of the tight grip of the dreaded communists it was George Soros who helped the people financially. Please at least be factual when you are slinging mud, okay?

0

kyook     5 months, 2 weeks ago

There's a lot of interesting reading here re: George Soros and never once did Wiki quibble about where he was born. Particularly interesting was this tidbit found under Currency Speculation:

On September 16, 1992, Black Wednesday, Soros' fund sold short more than $10 billion in pounds,[22] profiting from the UK government's reluctance to either raise its interest rates to levels comparable to those of other European Exchange Rate Mechanism countries or to float its currency.

Hmmmm....seems that there may be more to Mr. Millers comments than just mudslinging. Imagine that.

I'll be back later, I have to go look up Revisionist History.

So when a progressive, Soros, makes billions off the system, he and others like him are called socialist, communist,or any other "ist", except a capitalist. But when a conservitive makes billions off the system, Romney and others like him, are call great American capitalist. What's the difference?

What a bunch of Grinches! The debt is there and has to be paid. But why should the rich get to enjoy more tax breaks than the rest of us? I am tired of CEOs being paid millions of dollars and passing on insurance, retail, etc, etc, costs on to its employees and the buying public. Why cannot Congress forget the election hate and care about the people who elected them? Health care is important to this nation, a strong nation is a healthy one. Why do you begrudge healthcare for all. Emergency rooms are not the answer as the cost is just past on to the paying public. Merry Christmas to you complainers and a Happy New Year.
