The World in Motion: The Hat Project
This time, I visited a few senior homes in town interviewing participants of the Hat Project. The Hat Project seeks to provide handmade hats to children who are in need. Music: The Days of the Tumbleweeds - Mr. & Mrs. Smith From Free Music Archive
This week, Eastmont High School senior Bobby Liu goes behind the scenes of Aida Bound’s hat project to meet the able-fingered elderly folks who knit 12,000 hats a year for needy kids in the Wenatchee Valley.
Helping to keep a kid’s head warm is just the starting line for the project and the knitters gain as much as they give. They use their hands, sharp minds and social skills to participate in the project. They choose the colors and take pride in their work.
“I go real crazy,” laughs a 98-year-old Alice Jarr about the colors she chooses.
