Wrong decision
What a disappointment in the decision-making of the Chelan County commissioners not to appoint Travis Brandt to fill the upcoming vacancy of Chelan County District Court judge. They obviously did not represent the nearly 50 percent of Chelan County voters who, on Nov. 6, voted for Travis for Chelan County Superior Court judge. He lost by only 175 votes to Alicia Nakata who is currently Chelan County District Court judge.
We will not vote for any one of the current Chelan County commissioners in seeking re-election and will strongly campaign against them if they do, for no other reason than this. We will not forget in two years or four years and will remind Chelan County voters of this wrong decision.

The true meaning of Christmas was proven to us recently. We went to a local beauty salon to have haircuts and observed a darling little boy named Walker who was present with his mother getting a haircut. Having our appointments finished we went to pay the operator only to be surprised to learn the darling little boy’s mother had taken care of both haircuts for us. She proved to be a wonderful Christian lady that knows how to do good and walk away. We wanted to thank her but she was gone when we left the area. It is our hope she may read this and know she is in our prayers and we wish her a Merry Christmas.

Obviously this whole thing stinks to high heaven, when you consider Roy had worked with Judge Nakata when she was a Prosecutor. Looks to me like the Commissioner's caved under the pressure of that fact alone. We can't have commissioner's or Judges that behave in such a unethical Manner, I want people that will serve with honor and integrity.

To Carleen, Can you find the article written on Dec.20 about who was appointed District Court Judge? I seen it, then later went back and it was gone.I thought since the last time I had seen it there it least 18 comments it would be put in the Most Discussed. Funny thing they replaced it with a article with 1 comment. Doesn't this feel like they don't want people to have the right freedom of speech and they are being censored or is it that I just can't find the article written Dec. 20th 2012???

Oh, so because he ran for and lost a different position he should automatically be appointed this one? No. Simply running for(and loosing) one position does not grant you the right to fill another. Roy has much better qualifications and more experience for the District Court Judge's job. And how does the fact that Nakata worked with him add any pressure to the commisioners to appoint Roy? If you ask me, if there were ANY pressure, it would be the other way around just because Brandt ran for Superior Court Judge.
They made the right decision.

I think the fact that Charles Steinberg, Tony T. and Travis Brandt ran campaigns, the people got to know them and knew what they stood for. Roy Fore has never ran a campaign, we have no idea what kind of a judge he will make. It just common sense that people are asking how the commissioner's came up with this decision. It doesn't feel right, and I think the voter's have a right to ask questions and give opinons without them being vullified because they question the process in which this was done. It's not like Nakata won by a land slide, which as serving as a District Court Judge for 18 years, one would expect she would have. So yes the voter's have questions and when not answered are left to try to make sense out of a decision that doesn't make sense.

Asking questions is fine. But running a campaign is a risk you take. Brandt's not entitled to the job because he lost money trying for a different job. The commissioners know more about each applicant than the voters did and they picked those three candidates out and gave them an interview to find the best one. Just because one didn't run a campaign (for a different job) doesn't mean he's not the best person for this job. I think if any of the three candidates would make a good judge, it's Roy.

Anyone who has ran a campaign are given donations as well as I am sure they may have to use some of their own money. I would hope people wouldn't vote for a person because he spent money on a campaign. Campaigns gives the voters the ability to hear what they have to say and know what kind of experience they have. I know both Tony and Travis have both served as Prosecutor's as well as defense Attorney's. In fact Travis is still "Chelan County Special Prosecutor". Tony has even been a temporary Judge when needed. So experience is not something either one of them are short on. On the other hand all Roy has ever been is a Prosecutor, not very well rounded as far as experience is concerned.

It is apparent you are tring to support your friend or relative, I understand that. However when something has the appearance of a Quid Pro Quo, the Mayor or those in higher Authority will have to investigate it.
If you celebrate Christmas, we wish you and your's a Very Merry Christmas.

To Chelan Voter's, in case you don't know the name of Chelan County Commisstioner's, here is the names of two of them Ron Walter, Keith Goehner. Remember these two when and if they come up for re-election. That is if they are still commission's after the investigation reveals the Quid Pro Quo.
