Teen arrested after holiday decorations vandalized
Thursday, December 27, 2012
EAST WENATCHEE — A teenager who said he was bored was arrested early this morning on suspicion of damaging holiday decorations and taking items from about 10 East Wenatchee residents.
Justin T. Dumont, 18, of East Wenatchee, was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on suspicion of third-degree theft, malicious mischief and criminal trespass, said Don Culp, Douglas County undersheriff.
Dumont is accused of bending a metal tree, taking a star from the top of a tree, breaking Christmas lights and taking a fake deer from one location and placing it atop a vehicle, Culp said. He is also accused of stealing soda pop from a porch and smashing the cans in the street.
Deputies were called to the 2300 block of Catalina Drive about 2 a.m. by a resident who reported seeing someone damaging holiday items in the area, Culp said. A deputy saw Dumont walking in the area, carrying a 12-pack of root beer. The deputy talked with Dumont and wrote down his contact information.
Later, after investigating, deputies went to Dumont’s residence in the 100 block of 23rd Northeast where he told deputies that he had damaged things because he was bored, Culp said.
Hit by vandalism were residences in the 2300 block of Catalina Drive; and the 300, 400, and 500 blocks of 23rd Street Northeast, Culp said.

Obviously just another fine young man who made an "unfortunate decision". It must be tough to be so bored, and the temptation of all the pretty little lights and trinkets was just too much for his developing and fragile psyche to bear. I'm waiting to hear the "Oh he's really a good boy" crowd explain this one.

got to agree with you Jimbo! perhaps he should be evaluated and kept away from guns.

Anyone besides me notice that he was so bored that he destroyed and stole other people's things, but he didn't quite reach the threshold of destroying his own things or those of the "parent's" who feed and clothe him? Another Hmmmmmmm!

I feel bad for the people who had their lights smashed. I have to monitor my display every night for vandalism. I'll start taking everything down on Sunday most likely at which time I will start sleeping much better, or start actually getting some sleep!! He should have to come out & help them put their lights up next year!

Do you mean that you didn't pick up on the sarcasm in my post Justin? Surely you don't think that a growly old devil like me would really think he's a good boy, do you? I have a name for him too, but it's a bit stronger than "dopey" and would most likely get my comment deleted by the staff. That's a pity! I'd really like to say it.
