Right now, there seems to be absolutely so sign that any team is capable of beating the Okanogan and Brewster girls basketball squads. Both teams entered the season motivated to prove that what they accomplished last year (the Bears won the 1A state title, the Bears took second at the 2B state tournament) wasn’t a fluke, and they appear to be getting better and better each time they step on the court.
That’s not a good sign for the rest of the Caribou Trail League.
The two teams — coached by brothers Roger (Brewster) and Bryan (Okanogan) Boesel — will play each other Thursday, so obviously one team is going to take a loss in that one. But after both teams posted crushing victories Friday, they remain unbeaten.
Brewster beat Lake Roosevelt 79-27 at the Brewster Christmas Tournament, and Okanogan dominated Northwest School 69-20 at the Cascade Holiday Tournament.
The Bears received 19 points from Chandler Smith and 17 points from Monica Landdeck in their victory.
