Outgoing Chelan County Superior Court Judge John Bridges conducts a swearing-in ceremony for county officials on Monday.
As his last official act before retiring, Chelan County Superior Court Judge John Bridges swore in his replacement and a handful of other elected officials this morning.
“Are you folks ready for this?” he asked, as the officials tried to arrange themselves on the marble steps of the courthouse. “Do you know what you’re doing?”
It took about 30 seconds for the officials to take their oath of office as dozens of courthouse employees and family members looked on.
Afterward, they all shook hands and congratulated each other.
Those being sworn in were Judge Alicia Nakata, who is replacing Bridges on the Superior Court bench; newly appointed District Court Judge Roy Fore, who replaces Nakata; County Commissioners Ron Walter and Doug England and Assessor Deanna Walter, who won re-election in the November general election; and Superior Court Judges T.W. “Chip” Small and Lesley Allan, who were unopposed in the election.
