Leonard Andrew "Babe" Hewitt

Leonard Andrew "Babe" Hewitt, 95, of Olympia, WA and formally of Monroe, WA, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2012. Babe was born in the Peterson/Hewitt Homestead in Monroe, WA on September 29, 1916. He was a longtime employee of Cedergreen Foods, starting as a laborer at the receiving station in Wenatchee in 1938, and retiring as the Field Manager in Quincy in 1980. His only break from employment with Cedergreen came during WWII, when he spent three years as a S.Sgt. in the 5th Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre.

He was preceded in death by parents, Claude and Hannah Hewitt; three brothers, Frank, Varnum and Leon; two sisters, Thelma and a stillborn twin sister; and one daughter, Suzanne. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marvelyn; three daughters, Judee Johnson and husband, Don, Robbi Wright and husband, John, Diane Fox and husband, Ron; one son, Edward Hewitt and wife, Teresa; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Mills and Mills Funeral Chapel, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater, WA. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, at the IOOF Cemetery in Monroe, WA, followed by a gathering of family and friends at 4527 142nd Place SE, Snohomish.

To friends and family -- due to the unfortunate weather in the Monroe area, the graveside service has been postponed to Jan. 30th at 10AM.
