WENATCHEE — More than 160 youth skiers are expected Saturday and Sunday when the 19th-annual Stemilt Apple Cup Invitational races take place at Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort.
The races are geared for three age divisions — 11- and 12-year-olds, 9- and 10-year-olds, and 8 and under. Ski racers from around the state are expected to descend on the mountain, said Claudia Yamamoto, a Mission Ridge Ski Team coach.
On Saturday, a giant slalom race will take place, beginning at 10 a.m. Another giant slalom race will be held Sunday at the same time.
“These kids are kids who want to race but are not as serious, or are just starting out and want to learn the ropes,” Yamamoto said.
