Dick David Van De Mark

June 26, 1945 ~ January 21, 2012

Dick David Van De Mark passed away January 21, 2012. Dick was born June 26, 1945 to Jim and Zenia (Pearson) Van De Mark in Wenatchee, WA. Dick grew up in the Entiat Valley and, as a boy, built roads with his Tonka toys in the backyard. He had a love for tractors, trucks or any heavy equipment to drive. His first summer jobs while in high school were working for Jack Smart Logging and Les Shank Logging. After graduation, he went to Seattle to work and met his wife to be, Karen Husman. Dick served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, getting out in 1967. Dick and Karen were married February 24, 1968, and made their home in Entiat. Dick bought his first logging truck and was always in love with the "curvy" roads, smell of the trees and just man with his equipment. In 1979, Dick, Karen and daughter, Julie, moved to Malaga. Dick worked for Selland Construction and Rich's Construction, but eventually went back to his own trucking company, hauling containers to the coast.

Dick was preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors are daughter, Julie (Aaron) Seabright of Malaga; step-mother, Bobbie Van De Mark of Chelan; mother-in-law, Jean Whaley of Moses Lake; sister, Dorothy (Rusty) Thompson of Entiat; sister-in-law, Kathy (Ron) Martin of Wenatchee; step-sisters, Renee Keoth of Chelan and Cheryl Bessler of Scottsdale, AZ; nieces and nephews, Roxy Cate (Rick Mulvihill) of Washougal, Becky Cate of East Wenatchee, Ron (Traci) Cate of Okanogan and Tracy (Doug) Marker of Wenatchee.
