Lona Ohlson, 97, a ten year East Wenatchee, WA resident and former longtime Portland, OR resident, passed away at Central Washington Hospital on Saturday, January 21, 2012, following a brief illness. She was born on November 8, 1914, at Coulee City, WA to area pioneers, John B. and Edna (Lange) Peterson. The family moved several times during her youth, including Libby, MT, Post Falls, ID and Spokane, WA, where she graduated from Lewis & Clark High School. She later moved to Soap Lake, WA, where she met and was later married to Peter Eric Ohlson on March 24, 1939, in Soap Lake. They made their first home in Soap Lake, prior to moving to Tacoma in the spring of 1941. She was an active member of the PTA during her children's education in the Tacoma schools. The spring of 1952, brought them to Wenatchee. Lona found employment at the Wells & Wade warehouse, where she worked on the box lidder machine, and the Hesperian Fruit Company, packing cherries and working in the cafeteria. They moved to Portland, OR in 1963, and she remained there until moving to East Wenatchee in 2001. Lona loved to oil paint, her cats, gardening and crocheting. She enjoyed a good rock hounding adventure and camping with family and friends. She was a member of King's Orchard Church of Christ in Wenatchee.

She is survived by her daughter, Randalin "Randy" (David) Earhart of East Wenatchee, WA; six grandchildren, Lona Marie Johnson of Tacoma, WA, Candis Morgan of Eugene, OR, Aaron (LaVonna) Johnson of Cinebar, WA, Eric (Lisa) Earhart of East Wenatchee, WA, Shanna (Carl) Brooks of East Wenatchee, WA, Brennan (Lane'e) Earhart of East Wenatchee, WA; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; daughter, Roberta Johnson; an infant son; and sister, Alene Riehle.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the King's Orchard Church in Wenatchee.
