A slurp in the sun

Friday, January 27, 2012

A quacker quenches his craving for drink.

All’s ducky Thursday as a mallard, sipping in the sun, takes advantage of snowmelt in the parking lot of Walla Walla Point Park.

The sunshine should last through today and into Saturday morning, when clouds scuttle in to begin a few days of wintry mix — rain, sleet and some snow.

Steve Bodner, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Spokane, said high westerly winds Saturday and Sunday could direct most precipitation up and over the Wenatchee Valley to produce conditions that drop only a trace to a half-inch of snow on the valley floor. Low temperatures will range from 16 to 24 degrees through Tuesday with a warming trend later next week.
