Missing hiker walks into Stehekin

Originally published November 2, 2012 at 3:32 p.m., updated November 5, 2012 at 9:28 a.m.

WENATCHEE — A 25-year-old Pennsylvania man, who was overdue by a week on the Pacific Crest Trail, walked into Stehekin today.

He was tired and hungry, said John Wisemore, Chelan County undersheriff. He apparently did not bring enough food for the leg of the trip between Stevens Pass and Stehekin.

Ian Farmento of Honeytown, Penn, which is near Scranton, was hiking the trail from Mexico and had been expected in Stehekin Oct. 22. He was last seen on Oct. 19 near North Indian Pass, which is about eight miles south of Glacier Peak. Wisemore said he walked into Stehekin about 2 p.m. today.

If he is he'd better hurry, winter is closing in fast. It won't be long before parts of the trail are impassable.

I am pretty sure a PCT hiker comes into every single town on the entire journey tired and hungry with the belief that he/she did not pack enough food for that leg of the trip.

This hiker has hiked over 2500 miles...he will finish his hike. Push on Walkingman Wisemore! You are almost there!

Hot tubs in Manning Park! Hit them up!
