Levy passes: will keep clinic, ambulance in Waterville

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

WATERVILLE — A $65,000 special levy passed and will fund the Waterville Clinic and ambulance service.

70.31 percent of voters were in favor of the levy, which assess 40 cents per $1,000 in assessed valuation. That is on top of an annual $69,803 levy. That $69,003 levy is not on the ballot but is assessed by resolution of the hospital district board.

On Nov. 1, the hospital district began contracting with the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center for its medical services. That contact calls for the district to pay the medical center $100,000 a year, leaving $15,000 to pay for the local ambulance service, officials said.

This is the third year that the hospital district has run a special levy.
