WHITE PASS — A Yakima County sheriff’s spokesman says a Cashmere hunter who had been missing with his horse since Saturday near White Pass has turned up and is in good condition. The man’s horse is missing.
Sgt. George Town says 49-year-old Lance Chipman turned up Monday at a camp several miles from Dumbbell Lake. Chipman told rescuers that darkness fell Saturday while he was still on the trail. He says he veered off the trail and at one point that night got off his horse — and the horse took off, leaving him stranded.
Chipman eventually found his way to the Soda Springs camp, where a fellow hunter gave him a ride Monday afternoon to the search camp.
The man’s hunting partner had reported him missing.
