Wilf Woods column: Whoopee! for WestSide
Saturday, November 17, 2012
WestSide High and Wenatchee Rotary had a “celebration report” to the community at McDee’s on Thursday with presentations from alumni of that school who emphasized the importance of that school.
This is the “second half”of the campaign that brought the new Music and Art Center to Wenatchee Valley College and released for WestSide High the former Eagles building that the college’s art and music programs had been using.
Remodeling is under way by the Wenatchee School District as of last month, and by next fall the classrooms will be ready.
A non-traditional high school for non-traditional students has been a tough sell for the district, which lost two important bond issues by only a few votes each time, just under the 60 percent requirement.
But that’s over now.
And we’re proud of the support that both of these two school projects have received. The college program is in full swing now, and by next fall WestSide students will finally have a facility worthy of the name.
Whoopee!
