Upper Mission Creek closed to traffic
To prevent road damage from water runoff following this summer’s wildfires, the Wenatchee River Ranger District has closed upper Mission Creek Road to four-wheeled traffic.
A gate was installed at the junction of Mission Creek road and Sand Creek Road, a U.S. Forest Service news release said.
Drainage dips were cut into the road above the gate to protect it from runoff damage. The closure protects these new structures while they are soft, and to prevent added road damage from recent rain.
Only national forest lands are affected, and the road remains open to motorcycles, snowmobiles, mountain bikes, stock animals and hikers.
The road will reopen in the spring to all users, the release said.
