Wilf Woods: Amadee + Amadee = concert Friday
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
It’s interesting how things happen around here. The visit of a granddaughter to her grandmother in Wenatchee has resulted in a concert this weekend at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church by a fine vocalist and her local accompanist, Wilson Alvarez.
Amadee Moore came from Virginia to visit Amadee Prater, her grandmother, according to Tom McNair, who arranged the concert.
She was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera’s auditions, and has a master’s in vocal performance.
The performance Friday night is the first of its kind at the church, McNair said, and is entitled “Heaven to Broadway,” with both sacred and secular selections. Wilson Alvarez, her accompanist, will also perform.
Former conductor and principal pianist of the Ecuadorian National Symphony, he has headed the church’s music program here for the past two years.
And it all happened because of a visit!
