Smoky in the center, clear on the edges
Wednesday, October 10, 2012
WENATCHEE — The air in Wenatchee and other smoke-afflicted towns continued to hover at unhealthy levels today.
By 5 a.m. Wenatchee had already matched its Tuesday average of 47 micrograms of fine particles per cubic meter of air. Cashmere was at 65, above its Tuesday average of 46. Both readings measure in the unhealthy range by Washington’s air pollution standards.
Entiat reached 35 this morning, the upper end of the unhealthy rating for those sensitive to particle pollution: asthma sufferers, cardiac patients, those with respiratory disease and others. The town’s temporary smoke monitor averaged 31 micrograms on Tuesday.
Air was clear in Pateros, Chelan, Quincy and the Okanogan and Methow valleys this morning.
