Condition of man, shot multiple times, improves
A Wenatchee man shot multiple times on Oct. 23 was in satisfactory condition at Central Washington Hospital this morning.
Cesareo Saucedo Maldonado, 36, had been in critical condition after the shooting, which occurred at a residence in the 1300 block of Monitor Avenue. Police said there had been a gathering at that residence at the time of the shooting.
A suspect remains at large, said Detective Edgar Reinfeld this morning. Police said the suspect is about 46 years old and goes by the names of Javier Benitez, Juan D. Villareal and Juan Diaz Villareal. Police think the suspect is driving a beige 2000 Chevrolet Suburban with the Washington license plate 538 XYM. He has been working in orchards around the area.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees the suspect should not confront him, but rather call 911 to report the sighting, West said.
While it is early in the investigation, police do not think the shooting was gang-related, West said.
Neither the suspect nor the victim lived at the residence where the shooting occurred, police said this morning.
