12:30 p.m. Okanogan Complex Fires update
Fire officials on the Okanogan Complex Fires expect another day of extreme fire activity on the Buckhorn Fire, about 6 miles northwest of Methow. The fire made a 300-acre run Saturday, advancing west to the 125 Road, but did not jump established lines, according to fire officials.
Helicopters will be working the fire today, dipping buckets from Gold Creek. An inversion is expected to settle in later today hampering air operations and bringing poor air quality to the Methow Valley.
The Leecher Fire and Hunter Fire are both in mop-up stages. The three Okanogan Complex fires cover about 4,000 acres. Crews have also been sent to a new fire in the Goat Mountain area near Pateros. That fire is about 30 acres in size.
