WENATCHEE — Beau Kerns and Allen Willey grew up together in Lewiston, Idaho. They played on the Lewiston High School baseball team together, starring as the squad’s top two pitchers. After graduating, Kerns decided to play at Wenatchee Valley College, and tried to convince Willey to join him. Willey, however, stayed home and went to Lewis-Clark State College. Willey was a member of the Warriors baseball team last season, but didn’t play. WVC head coach Dustin Willis, who played for Lewis-Clark State before entering the coaching ranks, talk to a couple of Warriors coaches and arranged for Willey to spend the 2013 season in Wenatchee as a Knights player, with the hope that Willey would return to Lewis-Clark State the following year.
