OMAK — An Omak man is in the hospital this morning after he was struck on the head and then stabbed twice in east Omak Sunday night.
The victim was able to escape the assault and flee to a nearby residence, said Omak Police Sgt. Don Eddy. He was then taken to Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak, where he was still being treated this morning, Eddy said.
The victim told police he was near Dayton Street just before midnight when he was assaulted.
He recognized his assailant, and police have probable cause to arrest the man on suspicion of attempted murder and first-degree assault, Eddy said. Police believe the suspect left the area, he said.
Eddy declined to release the names of the men, but said both are in their late 20s or early 30s.
He said a motive for the assault is still under investigation.
