Paul R. Newton, 89, of Sherwood, Ore., and formerly of East Wenatchee, died Friday, July 26, 2013.

He had resided in Sherwood for the last five years and in East Wenatchee for 50 years. He was a lineman for GTE Telephone Co. for 40 years in Wenatchee.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Newton of Sherwood; his children, JoAnn May of Portland, Ore., and Joyce Coates and Carrie Fleming, both of Newberg, Ore.; his brother, Don Newton of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and his sisters, Julie Hurlbert of Lincoln and Pearl Fairchild of Medical Lake.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Jones & Jones-Betts Memorial Chapel, with interment following at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee.

Arrangements are by Jones & Jones-Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
