Among wonders produced in our region in the last decade, the explosive growth of the wine industry has been the most pleasant and beneficial. Its fantastic growth has been an economic driver, and a draw for tourists. Most of all, the high quality and diversity of the wine produced by local vintners deserves worldwide attention.
To that end, Foothills magazine produces its third annual NCW Wine Awards, the results to be announced at a gala Aug. 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Town Toyota Center. Those attending will be able to sample and purchase the product of more than 30 wineries, including the award winners chosen by experts in a blind tasting. In addition, there will be samples from breweries, distilleries and cider works, and food from many local restaurants and caterers. Sales benefit the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center.
Tickets are $40 per person, available at ncwwineawards.com, The Wenatchee World, 14 N. Mission, or at the door. This is an event not to be missed, for wine lovers or those curious about the amazing scope and breadth of this fantastic industry.
