KELOWNA, British Columbia — The Wenatchee AppleSox will have to put off planning for the playoffs for at least a day as the team lost to Kelowna 7-5 on Friday.
The Sox fell behind in the first inning when the Falcons plated two against starter Davis Engel.
Wenatchee tied the game in the top of the third, but Kelowna answered right back with a pair of runs of their own. The AppleSox plated a run in each of the next three frames, but the Falcons held the visiting team at bay by scoring a pair in the fifth and an insurance run in the eighth.
Engel was charged with the loss as the righty surrendered six runs on 10 hits. Brett Stephens and Connor Spencer each had doubles in the contest.
The Bellingham Bells won on Friday, so they are not technically eliminated from postseason contention. The Walla Walla Sweets won, so they are now in first-place with a full-game lead over the Sox.
Wenatchee takes the field tonight at 6:35, with a win clinching a spot in the playoffs.
