KELOWNA, British Columbia — The Wenatchee AppleSox struggled in the team’s final game of the regular season as the Kelowna Falcons took an 8-3 victory.
The Sox struggled to sustain an offensive attack Sunday in Canada. Starter Andrew Rohrbach surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings and Vaughn Berberet gave up four in relief.
First baseman Connor Spencer went 1-for-4 with a walk and lost the batting title to Bellingham’s Alex Calbick. Calbick went 1-for-3 and was pulled after recording a single in the fifth. Spencer ended the season with a .380 batting average while Calbick went .384.
Wenatchee will welcome the red-hot Walla Walla Sweets for the divisional round of the West Coast League playoffs. The Sweets have won eight straight but the Sox took three of five in the regular season in head-to-head play.
The opening game of the best two-out-of-three series between the Sweets and the Sox will be played at Paul Thomas Sr. Baseball Stadium on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. The team is offering two-for-one tickets for the game. Game two will be played in Walla Walla as well as game three if it is necessary.
