Joseph Bryan Renn, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the age of 82. Joe was born on January 9, 1931, in Indianapolis, IN to RADM Joseph B. Renn, Sr., USN, and Louise Wier Renn. Shortly after he was born, the family moved to Alexandria, VA and then to Long Beach, CA. Joe attended school in Long Beach, graduating in 1949 from Wilson High School. He attended Occidental College in Los Angeles until the outbreak of the Korean War, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Honorably discharged after four years of service, he finished his education at the University of Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. His career encompassed Engineering in the fields of petroleum refining (Shell Oil Company in Wilmington, CA), Space and Aeronautics (Apollo/Saturn V projects at Rockwell International, Seal Beach, CA), Hospitals (Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles and Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee), and Construction Administration (Wood/Harbinger Engineers, Bellevue, WA). Joe moved with his family to Wenatchee 35 years ago. He was a member of Lions International for over 50 years. He chaired the citizens’ advisory committee for Asamera Mining and also served on the board for Community Concert. He also served on the board for Ballet Theatre Northwest and participated with his wife, Eva, in the performance of The Nutcracker Suite for 23 years.

Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eva; his two sons, John and James Renn, both of Seattle, and Michelle Renn of Seattle; and the lights of his life, granddaughters, Alexandra and Birgitta Renn of Seattle.

A Private Family Memorial was held in Wenatchee. Arrangements by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
