Leavenworth is best known for its quaint Bavarian-themed village and its abundance of recreational opportunities. Oh, and its lederhosen-wearing, stein-hoisting, speedboat-racing nutcracker.
That’s right, Woody Goomsba is back and more daring than ever. In his newest video, “Nutcrackers Never Die,” Woody is pursued in a very Bond-esque speedboat chase near downtown Leavenworth. His assailants are a malicious gecko and gnome, and the resulting chase leaves nothing to be desired in terms of gunfire, explosions, and dramatic music.
Since his advent in 2010, Woody has taken Leavenworth by storm with a series of tourism ads on YouTube where Woody enjoys all the magic of Bavaria, from river rafting to falling in love. Recently his most popular video, “Gitcha Goomsba Up,” where dirndl-sporting women and Woody with his ever-full stein parody hip-hop music videos, hit the 500,000 view mark on YouTube. The entire series marked the beginning of a whole new marketing trend for the village.
With the most recent video, available here: youtube.com/watch?v=ZZqe-qyDrNw, one question is inevitably raised: is the last we’ll see of the suave nutcracker or does this speak of more adventures to come?
