LEAVENWORTH — A Leavenworth-area woman told authorities Wednesday that she was grabbed by a man, taken by car to a cabin and sexually assaulted Tuesday night.
The woman told Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies that she was walking on Commercial Street in Leavenworth at about 9 p.m. when she was approached by a stranger who started talking to her, said Undersheriff John Wisemore.
She told deputies that after a few minutes, the man grabbed her and told her to walk with him around the corner to a car, he said. He thene drove her to a cabin outside of Leavenworth, where he sexually assaulted her, Wisemore said. After the assault, he drove her back to Leavenworth and dropped her off, the undersheriff said.
Wisemore did not know whether she was kidnapped. “From the report the deputy has written, there was no actual threat to harm her, as far as getting into the vehicle,” he said, adding the sheriff’s office has not yet determined whether she was kidnapped. He said there was also no indication in the report that the man was armed.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Detective Mitch Matheson is seeking information from anyone who many have seen the man, described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, 6 feet tall, clean shaven with very short brown hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.
The vehicle was a newer dark blue sedan with four doors, a clean interior and vinyl bucket seats.
Anyone with information is asked to call Matheson at 667-6843.
