East Wenatchee, WA
Gordon passed away Friday, August 9, 2013, at Central Washington Hospital. He was born in November 1946, in Amhurst, TX to John and Margaret Nix. His family moved from Texas to the Quincy/George area in the early 1950’s. Gordon graduated from Quincy High School in 1965, and went onto Spokane Community College to study drafting and mechanical drawing. After leaving Spokane, his journey took him to Hoquiam, WA, where he worked at Lamb’s (Weston) until he quickly moved on to Seattle. Gordon went into sales at Washington Belt and Drive Systems, where he met a lot of his customers who always became important friends to him. In 1985, Gordon married his best friend, Leslie, and moved to East Wenatchee, where he was promoted to Regional Manager for Washington Belt and Drive for Central Washington. Their daughter, Cecily came along in 1988, and became the center of their lives for the next 24 years. Gordon loved watching Cecily try different sports, especially swimming, where the whole family was part of the Barracuda Swimming Team family for ten years. Gordon, Leslie and Cecily also travelled each year to their place on Kauai, and their Granite Falls Cabin at Lake Chelan each spring through the fall.
Gordon leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Leslie; daughter, Cecily of Seattle; mom, Margaret Nix of Walla Walla; brother, Terry (Laura) of Walla Walla; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Donna Taylor; brothers-in-law, Len (Jo) Taylor, and Steve (Suzanne) Taylor; nieces and nephews, Trevor Nix, Meghan Nix, Jacob Nix, Alissa (Nix) Herbst, Kelsie (Nix) Lutz, and Danielle, Stefani, Gabe, J.R. and Steven Taylor; and lots of great-nieces and nephews.
