QUINCY — A 75-year-old Quincy man died this afternoon after apparently drowning in Quincy Lakes, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones reported.
Bystanders said they heard the man yell for help around 1:30 p.m. today at the Evergreen Reservoir portion of Quincy Lakes, located about seven miles southwest of the city. But, they reported, by the time they arrived to help the man couldn’t be seen. The man’s body was recovered later by divers on the sheriff’s search and rescue team.
The body of the victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, is in the custody of the Grant County coroner, said Jones. The coroner will rule on the cause of death soon, the sheriff added, but there’s no indication of foul play.
“I feel so sad for this man’s family, and I pray they can find peace,” said Jones in a press release.
