QUINCY — Authorities this morning identified a 75-year-old Quincy man who drowned Sunday in Quincy Lakes as Wilbert O’Neel.
Bystanders said they heard the man yell for help around 1:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Reservoir portion of Quincy Lakes, about seven miles southwest of the city.
But, they reported, by the time they arrived to help the man couldn’t be seen. The man’s body was recovered later by divers on the sheriff’s search and rescue team.
“I feel so sad for this man’s family, and I pray they can find peace,” Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said in a press release.
The Grant County Coroner’s Office said he drowned.
