LEAVENWORTH — A 43-year-old hiker was rescued Saturday afternoon when she injured her leg on the Snow Lake Trail south of here.
Krysteena Hildebrand injured her left leg while crossing a rocky portion of the trail more than 10 miles from the trailhead, said Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett.
Other hikers in the area helped Hildebrand for what was a possible leg fracture and called the sheriff’s office for assistance. Search and rescue coordinators arranged for a hoist-capable helicopter from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office to airlift the hiker, Burnett said.
Hildebrand was airlifted from the trail around 3:25 p.m. and flown to the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery helipad, where she was taken to Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth.
Full details of Hildebrand’s injuries were not given, but the sheriff said she was stable and in fair condition Saturday evening. Authorities did not list Hildebrand’s home town.
