Tune out the Republican/Fox blather, and you will hear reports of the first, early success of Obamacare. Uninsured working poor are now able to access health insurance and others are receiving premium rebates on their present policies. Those lucky citizens are sending the word out to friends and family around the country, even to Eastern Washington. When the flag-waving, Jesus-loving, gun-toting Republicans of Washington’s dry side get wise to the truth, they will want that big-government program for themselves. They already enjoy myriad of programs from our oppressive federal government and won’t let “conservative” theory prevent them from benefiting from one more.
Congresspersons Hastings, McMorris-Rodgers and Reichert are in a bind. Their GOP beltway bosses require them to condemn Obamacare, a program meant for the working poor, the very people who keep the agricultural economy of Eastern Washington humming. Meanwhile, those representatives will campaign for re-election boasting about the pork they have brought back to their districts. So, GOP reps, good luck explaining how you are conservative and why the federal government should not help our working poor get the decent, basic health care they deserve.
