STEHEKIN — The Chelan Ranger District is monitoring a small wildfire burning in a remote area of the Glacier Peak Wilderness near its boundary with the North Cascades National Park.
The U.S. Forest Service reported Wednesday that the Riddle Creek Fire was discovered Aug. 11. The fire — probably less than acre — is two miles up the Riddle Creek drainage from Lake Chelan, and is burning in terrain too steep for firefighters.
A management plan is in place if the fire begins to threaten three structures in the North Cascades National Park near Lake Chelan, a Forest Service news release said.
No structures are currently threatened, and no trails are closed.
