WENATCHEE — A 13-year-old Wenatchee boy is recovering from a head injury that he suffered Saturday in a dirt-bike accident.
Rylan Gooch was in intensive care at Central Washington Hospital this morning but was expected to be transferred next week to Seattle Children’s Hospital for therapy to help him recover, said his mother, Melody Wilson of Wenatchee.
She said he is able to walk and talk but doctors say he will need help recovering cognitive skills.
Rylan was injured on a private dirt-bike track about 5 p.m. Saturday in Okanogan, said his father, Bart Gooch of East Wenatchee. “He jumped a big jump and overshot it a little bit, then landed on the downhill side of the bank and the bike flipped over a few times,” Gooch said. Rylan was wearing a helmet and other protective gear.
A fund to help with Rylan’s medical expenses has been set up at Cashmere Valley Bank.
