WENATCHEE — The Washington Apple Education Foundation hosted a pair of luncheons last month to celebrate its current year scholarship recipients.
Luncheons took place July 22 in Wenatchee and July 29 in Yakima. More than 600 students, parents, donors and guests attended the events.
Attorney Gloria Ochoa, an adjunct professor at Gonzaga University, was the keynote speaker at the Wenatchee luncheon. She shared with students a few tips that helped her succeed in school and advised them not to fear failure.
The luncheons raised more than $40,000 for the WAEF scholarship program through sponsorships and donations.
This year, WAEF is assisting students raised in tree fruit districts with scholarships valued at nearly $650,000.
