The Cascade Medical Foundation will host its 18th annual Home & Garden Tour on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Residents and visitors are invited to tour seven unique homes and gardens in the Plain/Lake Wenatchee area noon to 5 p.m.
All funds raised from this event go directly to the Cascade Medical Foundation and are dedicated toward the updating and modernization of the kitchen at Cascade Medical, enhancing the service to patients using this facility.
This year, the homes on the tour offer an interesting and diverse selection of design styles which are sure to have something to peak everyone’s interest.
Unique features that visitors will enjoy include an arctic entryway displaying etched glass windows crafted by local artisans, a spectacular waterfall made of local stones, hanging lamps made of artillery shell casings used in avalanche control, a concrete floor embedded with cedar tree branch imprints, custom ironwork railings and a “copper penny” backsplash in the laundry room plus much more.
Homes include a stunning view of the Chiwawa River from a wrap-around deck, an immaculate log home with a spectacular lakeside garden bursting with color from over 3,500 annual plants and a custom, timber-framed home on the Wenatchee River with a private vineyard, a tranquil retreat nestled among the trees. Homes will be hosted by Foundation board members.
The tour also includes a modern minimalist home with a secret room on the shore of Lake Wenatchee constructed of building materials that withstood the July fire. Chelan County Fire District 9 firefighters will be present at this home to discuss how building materials and landscape design can help save a home during a fire.
A map with location, home description and directions are included in the ticket/brochure. Visitors may begin the tour at any of the homes with refreshments provided at the Olson home on Stonefly Drive.
This is another project of the Foundation in its ongoing goal of helping Cascade Medical provide the best possible medical care to the community.
This year’s tour event sponsor is M&M Quality Construction.
