Donald Edgar Roberson

December 23, 1932 ~ December 1, 2013

Donald Edgar Roberson, 81, died in his Wenatchee home on Sunday, December 1, 2013. A dedicated family man, Don was surrounded and supported by his loved ones. Don was born in Long Beach, CA on December 23, 1932. He spent his youth in California and his teen years in Central America, where his father worked as an oil field engineer. He was a spirited young man who, at 17, was smitten by love in June 1950, when he met Gloria Marie (Mamo) Piper in Whittier, CA. They were married six months later in Yuma AZ. Don joined the Navy in 1951. He served his country honorably for four years, much of which was spent in Korea aboard the U.S.S. Merrick as a Quartermaster 3rd Class. In 1962, Don, Gloria and their four children moved to Washington and called it home. Don worked 32 years for GTE with postings in Kennewick, Everett and Wenatchee, where he and Mamo have resided for 41 years.

Don is survived by his wife Gloria; their daughter’s, Becci (Steve) McCormick, Jill Roberson, Tracy (Glen) Faulkner-Carlson; and their son Chip (Janet), all of Wenatchee; his grandchildren, Piper and Kellee McCormick, Whitney and Hannah Faulkner, Micah and Brittany Roberson; and three great grandchildren, Giovanni, Lyric and Mia.

The legacy of Don’s love and celebration of a life, lived full and well, will take place during a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee at Miller St. and Washington St. In lieu of flowers, donations to Chelan Douglas Land Trust would be a great honor to him.
