WENATCHEE — A Stage 1 ban on burning — which prohibits the use of uncertified wood stoves — begins at 4 p.m. today throughout Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties.

The ban will continue until at least 10 a.m. on Friday, when it may be extended or lifted. It applies to all outdoor burning, and to the use of uncertified wood-burning devices, such as certain wood stoves, inserts and fire places, unless they are the home’s only source of heat.
