Warming temperatures could bring ice jams

NCW — Minor flooding caused by ice jams along rivers in North Central Washington could affect riverside properties, forecasters with the National Weather Service in Spokane warned Wednesday.

Ice floes caught by fallen trees and sandbars can build up and temporarily divert a river’s flow, said forecaster Matt Fugazzi. “We’ve no reports of this type of flooding yet, but residents should be aware.”
