The lack of snowpack in the mountains reminds us that every so often we get a dry winter.
We watched more closely back when a local board ran the Mission Ridge ski area. Our first year, 1966, was bad but not disastrous; then came 1976 and not a wheel turned, convincing the board to put in snowmaking.
Ten years later, 1986, was bad, but snowmaking saved the day. Bad news for skiers is fine for housebuilders, however.
